What I need to know about VoLTE and VoWiFi?

VoLTE is known as voice over LTE that allows customers to enjoy high-quality voice calls with almost no background noise. Whereas Voice over Wi-Fi or VoWiFi is the ability to make and/ or receive calls & SMS over a Wi-Fi connection, even when mobile signal is limited or absent.
By activating VoLTE and VoWiFi on your device, you will experience the best indoor & outdoor coverage.

VoLTE
Eligibility & Supported Devices
- All Celcom and Digi Postpaid subscribers with supported device models.
- All latest mobile devices sold via their official manufacturer stores in Malaysia are enabled with VoLTE. Alternatively, check with your phone manufacturer to confirm VoLTE compatibility.
Activating VoLTE
VoLTE will be activated automatically when your smartphone is connected to the 4G LTE network. Please ensure that your smartphone is updated to the latest software.
Then, follow these steps to activate VoLTE:
iOS
- Go to 'Settings' > 'Mobile Data' > 'Mobile Data Options' > Enable 4G > Select 'Voice and Data'.
- To check if VoLTE is enabled: Go to 'Settings' > 'General' > 'About' > tap on 'Network Provider' > it will change to 'IMS Status: Voice & SMS'.
Android
- If the device is VoLTE certified, it will turn on automatically. Please refer to device manufacturer for further information.
VoWiFi
Eligibility & Supported Devices
- All Celcom and Digi customers with supported device models.
- All latest mobile devices sold via their official manufacturer stores in Malaysia are enabled with VoWiFi. Alternatively, check with your phone manufacturer to confirm VoWiFi compatibility.
Enabling VoWiFi
Please make sure of the following:
- Your device is running the latest operating system
- It has the Wi-Fi calling feature
- You see a VoLTE logo on your status bar
Then, follow these steps to activate Wi-Fi calling on your device:
iOS
- Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Mobile Service’ > Look for ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ > Toggle on ‘Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone’.
Android
- Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Network & Internet’ or a similar option depending on your device > Look for ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ or ‘Wi-Fi Calling Preferences’ and turn it on.
Once enabled, you will be able to see an icon on the top of the device screen indicating an active VoWiFi. This will also be subjected to different device brands/ models.
Note: You can disable VoWiFi on your device if you do not want to use it. You will be able to use the mobile line to make calls and send SMS if you disable it. However, some activities will still rely on other network service signals such as mobile networks or VoLTE services.
