CelcomDigi Rewards Scam

Modified on Wed, 11 Sep at 9:50 AM

Dear Subscribers,

We have noticed reports of a group impersonating CelcomDigi and reaching out to our customers with false claims that they have won rebates and vouchers.

Here's a breakdown of the various tricks and modus operandi used by scammers that you should be aware of:

  1. The scam involves sending a WhatsApp message with a fraudulent URL (https://redeemvoucer.wixsite.com/my-site) and requesting the victim to click on it. This URL is designed to deceive the customer into revealing their online banking username and password.
  2. After the victim enters their information, the scammer instructs them to click 'claim' to receive the voucher and rebate.
  3. They also advise the victim not to log in to their bank account due to processing reasons.
  4.  The call is subsequently transferred to an individual claiming to be from the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) treasurer's office and then to the BNM tax department.
  5. The scammer's objective is to delay the victim from realizing that their money is being transferred without their consent.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Do not share personal information or OTP codes with anyone, even if they claim to be CelcomDigi officers or sale representatives.
  • Do not click any suspicious link provided.
  • Please refer to the official website to verify the promotions.
  • Please do not believe offers that are too good to be true, especially from strangers.
  • Please report any suspicious number to your mobile operator.

Rest assured that CelcomDigi is actively taking measures to ensure our customers do not fall prey to such scams.
