Why can’t I connect to certain devices while using CelcomDigi Fibre?

Modified on Tue, 8 Oct at 4:05 PM

There could be several reasons why you might experience connectivity issues with certain devices (Smart TV, CCTV and other devices that use a Wi-Fi connection) while using CelcomDigi Fibre. Here are some common causes and solutions:

1. Service or line status

Check the status of your line using the Celcom Life or MyDigi app. If your line is barred or suspended, pay outstanding amounts via these available payment methods.

2. Device compatibility

  • Some older devices that only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi may not perform well with high-speed Internet services. Consider using a wired connection for these devices to ensure a stable and faster Internet experience.
  • Ensure that your devices have the latest firmware updates installed. Outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues.

3. Network configuration

Check your device’s network settings. Sometimes, incorrect settings can prevent devices from connecting to the network. Resetting the network settings on your device might help.

4. Router and modem issues

  • Restart your modem and router. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.
  • Check the connections, ensure all cables are securely connected and there are no loose connections.

5. Interference and range

  • Other electronic devices, such as microwaves and cordless phones, can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Try to place your router away from such devices.
  • If you are far from the router, the signal strength might be weak. Try to place router nearer to you and facing on open area.  You also can consider using a mesh Wi-Fi system or Wi-Fi extenders to improve coverage.

6. Device limits

If too many devices are connected to the network, it can cause congestion and connectivity issues. Try reducing the number of connected devices.

Tips: If you feel frustrated trying to connect your device to your Wi-Fi network, try pressing the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on your router. This will temporarily allow any device to connect without needing to enter a password.

Note: While WPS is convenient, it can be less secure than using a password. It’s recommended to disable WPS when not in use to prevent unauthorized access.
